HIKING

By utilizing the expansive green space on the residential tract in combination with the tranquil Saluda River Preserve, the Territories will have a premier nature trail system. The natural flow of topography and the movement of the Saluda River will make the river trail a favorite for sunrise hikes. Numerous loops and short trails will feature the Saluda River as a backdrop, while a short interpretive trail will depart from the River Lodge. For those wanting a longer hike, simply connect to the longer trails on the Saluda River Preserve for a half-day of hiking and enjoying nature.

CONSERVATION ECO-TOURS

The unique eco-systems that make The Territories special does not go unrecognized. The rich diversity of plants, animals, trees, and fishes are at the center of our Eco Tours conducted by our Naturalist. The multi-tiered forest canopy of our Preserve does not go unoticed by our feathered friends. The diversity of songbirds is outstanding and even holds rare species.The Wood Thrush's flute-like call echoes through the hardwoods. Eastern Bluebirds and Indigo Buntings add splashes of the blue to our fields while migrating neo-tropical Warblers add flashes of yellow to the landscape. Numerous water loving species may be found in the Tupelo Bottoms. One may even spot endangered species like our national symbol, the Bald Eagle, along the Saluda River. 

ATV RIDING

With over twenty miles of roads and trails, The Territories is a great place to ride during our non-hunting seasons. The varied terrain makes this a great place for children to learn the basics and safety of trail riding. A new Polaris Ranger is given to each new property owner free for their families use on the grounds.  
 

CAMPING

Tent pads and fire rings will be featured at numerous campsites along the river. One can take supplies to the locations by ATV or float the river with your supplies for a true river expedition experience. Enjoy this great way to introduce children to camping with all of The Territories amenities close at hand. Experience camping right outside your backdoor while feeling as if you are miles from civilization. Don't forget to pack the smores.

WATER RECREATION

The Saluda River offers something for everyone. Take an easy thirty minute excursion down the river, or for the adventurous, arrange a twenty mile overnight float towards Lake Murray. With seven miles of river front with an upper and lower landing along with several pullouts, the river can accommodate the trip you are looking for. Birders can slip along quietly in canoes and kayaks. Families can opt for a guided trip in the Hog Island Drift Boat. You can put in, float seven miles, and get off the river a mile from where you started due to the bend of the river. There are no homes or development along the river and very few people, creating a quite and natural river experience.

HORSEBACK RIDING

The Territories is the Equestrian enthusiasts haven. Calming sounds from the Saluda River and abundant wildlife surrounds you while riding through the 1400 acre Saluda River Preserve. For those with a competitive spirit, the Grand Harbor Equestrian Center is home to a 175x200 Jumping Arena, 60' Lungeing Arena and a 65x90 Schooling Arena, perfect for practicing for your next show. This facility is located just minutes from the Territories and offers Hunter/Jumper lessons along with fun Summer Camps for the little riders.
